BLACKSMITH MADE SCALES
Large set of hand forged scales dating from the late 1700s to the 1800s.  The blacksmith’s
hammer marks cab still be seen.  Note the early style “16” stamped in the center of the
main balance beam.  It may denote the distance between the pivots one the ends, I
measured them to be 15 ½” (maybe the blacksmith method of measuring was off?)  The
modest decorative elements on the balance beam are more typical of the 1700s.  18 1/2" in
length and 9 1/2" in height.  High quality workmanship.  Very good condition.             $150
